Side Plank Variations

An challenging arms and core sequence is to throw a side plank in every Sun A. There are enough side plank variations that you could do a different one for each Sun A.

Off the top of my head...

Side plank:
  • lifting top leg off of bottom leg, letting it hover
  • with feet hips width distance apart, resting on inside of one foot and outside of other
  • lifting top leg and placing it in Tree Pose on bottom leg
  • lifting top leg and placing it in front of grounded leg, bending the knee at a 90 degree angle to get foot onto the floor (press into foot to lift hips higher)
  • "flipping the plank" taking top leg behind grounded leg on the ball of the foot, pressing into the ball of the foot and lifting hips higher
  • dropping onto knee of lower leg; lift top leg to be parallel to floor
  • forearm side plank
  • reach top arm to front of room, to get deeper side stretch

Word. Let me know if I'm missing any!
