If you have a spare intention...

I should have thought of this earlier, but better late than never.

A friend's father has stage 4 cancer. While visiting him this past week, her healthy 14-year old nephew (her father's grandson) drowned in Lake Erie. It's all the terrible-ness you could possible imagine, and she's been in my thoughts a lot. Just realized that, at my computer, I have a connection to a whole network of beautiful, practicing yogis who can send their thoughts to my friend. So, if you take a class this week and are asked to set an intention, if you have a spare intention, send it to my friend. She is beautiful and lovely and life feels shitty and psychotic right now.

Here is a metta/loving kindness meditation practice:
  1. Imagine someone you love very much. Hold an image of them in your mind's eye. Send them your light, your love. Tell them: may you be happy, may you be healthy, may you be peaceful. Repeat 3x, or more if it feels powerful.
  2. Imagine someone you are having personal difficulties with. Hold an image of them in your mind's eye. Send them your light, your love. Tell them: may you be happy, may you be healthy, may you be peaceful. Repeat 3x, or more if it feels powerful.
  3. Imagine yourself. Hold an image of yourself in your mind's eye. Feel your light and your love. Tell yourself: may you be happy, may you be healthy, may you be peaceful. Repeat 3x, or more if it feels powerful.
  4. If you have the space, repeat for my friend. You don't have to know what she looks like, just know she is out there.
