Interview AND a Giveaway!
As you may have noticed, I've been on a hot streak of interviews with awesome people recently. I'm upping the ante on this one: in addition to an interview with the musician and yogi Adam Lees, I am giving away one copy of his newest album! For how to enter, more details are below the article. Okay, you know the drill. Three questions, three answers, one free CD. And... go!
Emma : I really enjoyed listening to your album while I was working. I tend
to get into a speed contest with myself to get things done, and your
music reminded me to relax and get perspective on everything. When you
recorded this music, who did you envision listening to it and under what
circumstances?
Adam : While I was writing and recording the music for First Light I was aiming to create music that would be universally appealing to anyone, and that could be listened to under many different circumstances. I envisioned the music being used for meditation, yoga, massage therapy etc. but also for personal relaxation. Something that you could play in your car or at home when you need a little time for yourself. I was familiar with other relaxation CD's that focus on nature sounds like birds, water falls, thunder etc. but I heard that sometimes they can be distracting. So for this album I wanted to focus on the music and instrumentation, to let the music speak for itself and guide you. I wanted this album to be a tool people could use to help reduce stress, promote relaxation and create a moment in time that's all your own.
ES: This music is perfect for yoga and meditation. Do you have a personal practice of meditation or meditative movement?
AL: For my personal practice meditation, I try to create moments throughout the day that are just for me. Even if just a few minutes, perhaps to sit quietly, clear my mind and get refreshed. Sometimes this will include yoga and stretching to re-connect with my body.
ES: I like to ask my interviewees the same final question. What upcoming projects are you excited about? What is inspiring you these days?
AL: There's a couple of up coming projects I'm excited about. The first would be having my music used on a local cable network yoga show. There will be 8 episodes and will be aired 7 days a week starting this fall. I'm thankful for the opportunity and exposure this will give my music. Second would be creating a follow up album to First Light which I am excited about for sure. I'm aiming at early next year for a release date. It will be an extension of First Light, maybe with some new elements added in. As for what's inspiring me, I'd have to say my 2 daughters Miya (5) and Aislynn (2). Watching them grow and learn new things is exciting but they also remind me to live in the moment, and enjoy the small things in life.
Okay, and now for the contest! You have four options for entering:
